Serial 295xxxx, Circa 1972
Excellent condition, no box or papers. Just serviced by a Rolex trained watchmaker ($750 value).
This iconic collectible timepiece has been made by Rolex since the early 1950's. The 1570 automatic self-winding movement is a workhorse and was used for many decades by Rolex. It has a Mark 1 black Matte dial with tritium painted numbers and markers which have earned a nice creamy patina over 50 years since it was created. The hands have matching color patina and like the dial, they are in excellent condition. Very few Rolex Explorer 1016 watches came on a Jubilee style bracelet, making this particular specimen more intriguing and collectible in my opinion. The bracelet is loose as it has many years of wear. But it wears comfortably and fits a 7 inch wrist.
