DESCRIPTION:
Panerai has created several 2-piece special editions sets of watches. This is certainly one of the best to own in my opinion. It completely sold out and rarely becomes available in the secondary market. Collectors are just not willing to let these go!
First, you get two very different timepieces with matching numbers, and this set is priced relatively low for two rare watches!
The first watch is the PAM 649 (PAM00649) Luminor Daylight 3 days with a white dial and blue indices and markers. This dial is unique to all other modern day Panerai watches. You will also like the blue hands that are highly luminous. In the late 1990's, there was once a watch supposedly commissioned by Sylvester Stallone with this dial color combination. I don't believe Panerai ever made it for regular production as Stallone wanted black numbers instead. In any event, this model has a 44mm stainless steel case, solid screw-down case back and patented locking crown. With functions of hours, minutes and a sub-second's hand register, this would make a great daily wear watch. Also, the mechanical hand wound movement has a 3-day power reserve. It comes on a dark blue alligator strap with lighter blue stitching and has a polished stainless steel Pre Vendom style buckle engraved "Panerai". It comes with all of its individual papers.
The second watch is a PAM 650 (PAM00650) Luminor Black Seal 8 Days, Destro (left-handed) black PVD coated steel. Of course, this watch can also be worn on either wrist where it is equally comfortable. This dial is also unique in that it boasts the words "Black Seal", which is a Panerai collector "buzz word". Like the above Daylight, a similar watch was once made in the 1990's. But I don't believe there are bonified records of it being created by Panerai, so there is great skepticism as to its authenticity. However, it looked so cool, Panerai later created the PAM 650 as a homage to the watch that never was. It has a 44mm stainless-steel case with a black PVD coating and a solid screw down case back. With a black dial and luminous vintage style patina markers and numbers, this watch is quite "stealth" looking. The functions consist of hours, minutes and a sub-seconds hand register. The hands are also luminous. With a P.5000 mechanical hand wound movement, you will love the 8 days of power reserve this timepiece features. It comes on a dark brown vintage style leather strap with a black PVD coated Pre Vendom style buckle engraved Panerai. It comes with all of its individual papers.
Due to the weight of the set, continental US shipping is $200, Alaska or Hawaii $300, International $400 USD.
