This is a special edition custom knife designed for Watches24seven.com by South African custom knife maker Corrie Schoeman. Together, Corrie and Bruce discussed what they thought would be the best design of a custom knife that would best represent a Panerai Bronze watch.
Corrie Schoeman is a member of the South African Knife Makers Guild and has been creating spectacular custom knives for 30 years! Folding Art is his motto, and if you look at his knives, you can see why. He has a world wide reputation for creativity and craftsmanship. Having met and worked with him, I can say he is one of the most humble custom knife makers in the world... and an all around GREAT guy! We are lucky to have had Corrie work on this special edition custom knife!
This knife is engraved with the knife makers name "Corrie Schoeman" as well as the special edition number "#2 of 8".
Notice that the bronze bolsters on the handle represents the bezel that you would find on a watch. On the bronze watch, you will find a white Luminova dot at the 12 o'clock marker. On the knife, you will find a white ivory dot, which acts as a place to put your thumb. The handle has two levels of bronze. A high polished circular shape which sits over a matte finish bronze bolster. This looks similar to the watch bezel that sits over the watch case. Just as the bronze will patina on the watch, so will the patina on the knife, which will give the knife a rugged look.
On the handle you will also appreciate the Mammoth Ivory Fossil, which can date back as much as 10,000 years!.
This particular knife has a Mammoth Ivory Fossil which has been "cross cut" giving it a unique appearance. This knife is a perfect match for a dive watch.
The Damascus blade is dark and has pronounced light and dark area's that look like bubbles. The top of the blade has scroll work, an added detail you won't find on mass made knives. The back strap of the knife has more scroll work with jewels of Citrine and Rubies.
This is a "Flipper" style folder knife with a linear locking system. It has an advanced hinge with a ball bearing which gives the blade great action. It opens and closes quickly and feels like butter!
Collectors Information:
* One of Eight, yet one a kind Knife as each is slightly unique and hand made!
* Unique to Schoeman knives, is that the pivot pin in the blade hinge works on bearings, so it is super smooth and very fast when opening or closing!
Measures:
Blade: 3.25 Inches.
Handle: 4.75 Inches.
Overall: 8.0 Inches.
Each custom knife comes with an authenticity certificate and a "special make up" dark green leather knife/watch case. One side will hold the knife, and the other side will hold a watch. This color will match the dark green dial on a Panerai bronze watch, and the dark green hues that you will find in some of the Mammoth Ivory fossilized scales on the handles of the knife.
If you have a Bronze watch on your wrist, you should have this knife in your pocket. Use it or display it!
